Dr. Ronald A. Dickson’s background includes 13 years as a classroom teacher from elementary to high school levels, eleven years as a school site administrator, and five years as an assistant superintendent. He is currently in his sixth year as Laveen’s superintendent.

Since arriving to Laveen in May of 2005, Dr. Dickson has worked to address the District’s tremendous growth (from 2,200 to over 5,000 students), as well as to oversee many improvements in the district. Some of these improvements include aligning the curricula to state standards; renovating existing school campuses; building two new schools; establishing a before and after-school latchkey program; purchasing a fleet of new school buses; implementing full-day kindergarten at all schools; expanding the district’s staff development program; converting all schools to K-8; opening a traditional school; providing a full-time teacher mentor at every school; updating textbooks district-wide; expanding music, art, and PE instruction; and dramatically increasing student achievement in every subject and grade level. Now, thanks to the overwhelming support of Laveen voters in the November 2008 bond election, the district is starting the process of rebuilding the district's two oldest campuses, Laveen and M.C. Cash schools.

Dr. Dickson holds a Bachelor’s degree in education from Central Michigan University, a Master’s degree in educational leadership from Arizona State University, and a Ph.D. in K-12 educational leadership from Capella University.
